To find such an object, amateur astronomers would need to know its celestial coordinates and visible magnitude.
It doesn’t appear to have an SAO number but according to Simbad the coordinates of V404 Cygni are RA: 20 24 03.83 DEC: +33 52 02.2.
However, I cannot find its magnitude. I wouldn’t mind checking it out later in the year. Cygnus is best seen around August to September but I would need to know how bright it is and whether it could be mistaken for any other object in the vicinity.
