I know this more of a cultural thing but, in Australia, the seasons official change on the first day of March, June, September and December. Yet in real terms, Spring arrived in Brisbane during the second week of August this year, rather than on 1 September. The city’s population of insects and lizards and snakes became suddenly active within the space of about 4 days. It was fascinating.
